About the Owners (current and former)

The Spatolas: Bob and Hannah first met in Hawaii in 1959. He was a wet-behind-the ears Coast Guard Officer and she was a newly minted nurse. A whirlwind romance, involving half the islands in the Pacific, ultimately led to marriage. They bought their first boat, a 33' Owens Bay Cruiser, in 1962. They promptly sold it in 1964 after suspecting that its comforts might be the cause of their rapidly growing family--three girls and a boy. Bob left the Coast Guard as a Commander and went to work with his father in a wine and spirits distribution company. In the early 1980's they got back into boating in a big way buy first buying a 46 Island Trader and then a 41' Out Islander. The 41' was put into a rental program in the Virgin Islands while the 46' was kept on the Chesapeake. When the last sailboat was sold in 1994 Bob started looking for a powerboat. It was then that he first heard about LNVTs and told his broker he'd like to see one. The rest, as they say is history. Kukui, hull#75, named for Bob's first ship in the Coast Guard, came under their care in April 1994.

Second Owner A Philadelphia contractor. He bought a Grand Banks 49 after selling the LNVT.

First Owner A retired Navy Captain. He wanted to live aboard but needed something bigger and bought a Grand Banks 49
