About the Owners

Ted and Nan: purchased Mikfin brand new in 1986 and lived aboard until November 2007. They've cruised the Puget Sound and Hood Canal areas in Washington. Read about their liveaboard experiences in Nor'westing Magazine's, The Liveaboard Lifestyle pdficon.gif.

"When we ordered Mikfin we put our home on Bainbridge Island up for sale. As I remember, we were promised an early June delivery. Then Ocean Eagle Yard had a workers strike and stopped everything. Our home sold and we were without anywhere to live in late July. We pressed pretty hard for a completion date and were able to get Cruising Yachts, the brokerage, to come up with some form of compensation to us for our temporary housing. That may be why our boat got going on construction before some others. It was a wild time. Mikfin arrived in Tacoma, WA in late October, was commissioned in Seattle and we took possession in mid November. What a truly great day that was." — Nan Mader, 26 June 2008
