About the Owners (current and former)
Goetz's: We purchased the then “Josephine” from the broker who was handling Victory Tugs during the late 1980’s, Lane Finley on the north end of Lake Union. The original owners were a retired couple from Bellingham for which this was their first boat. They used it a couple of times and decided that boating was for others; sold the boat; and moved to FL. We were lucky to be in the right place at the right time; the boat was actually “better than new” with all the equipment, including radar and in those days, loran. The engine is the Cummins, 4BT, 100 hp. For us, the 100 hp works just fine. It goes almost twice as fast as our last sailboat, a Baba 30, and is very economical on fuel. I used to sit in the Baba's cockpit all bundled up for the weather; Pam would sit in the companion way where the heat would come out from our little bulkhead wood stove and we ended up doing a lot of motoring so we decided to motor in comfort, with great visibility, and in a very comfortable boat. Now, after 20 years of owning Josephine, we've decided to either buy a new boat or change the name. Since we still really enjoy our tug boat, we elected the less costly option. The new name is M/V Talapus; almost the same name as the last sail boat we owned before buying the tug.
