About the Owners Past and Present

Bruce Griffiths: From a July 2008 email Bruce Griffiths writes: I have had a love affair with the lnvt for a long time. I was in Juneau AK years ago and saw Perserverance for the first time. I did not know what type of boat she was but I really liked her lines. Once I found out what she was I had a hard time finding information about them. One day I ran across something on the webb from Mitch Page, he also liked them but information was limited. Anyway I contacted Mitch and he mentioned he would like to start a club and maybe buy one at some point. Well he started the club with his first wife and I became one of the first wannabees. I learned as much as I could about the boats over the years and as soon as I was in a position to buy one I bought Tess. From a 9 September posting to the LNVT Forum Bruce wrote: Well we made it! Tess is in Skagway Ak. We ran 107.5 hr in 12 days, arrived 8:30 am Sunday. Lots of rain, no wind, very little fog a couple of minor mechanical problems, great trip.

The McKinneys: The original owners of Tess lived aboard for six years. They cruised from Alaska to Mexico and then trucked Tess to Brownsville, TX. From there they cruised the Gulf all the way to Tampa, FL. One night something went wrong, the shaft bent, and it cost $2000 for a tow in. The shaft was straightened by heating it.
