About the Owners (current and former)

The Jenkins': These Southern California sailors have owned several sail and powerboats and have lived aboard two of them. Bob is a machinist and RN and Birdie is a CNA. They plan to sell their house (2013), move aboard and do the Great Loop.

The Oates': Read about their 2005 SW Florida cruise. From an Oct '08 email Alan writes: "… Annapolis--that's where we came across the first LNVT we ever saw. Yellow Rose was for sale and she was a "stink pot" that a sailor could love. We missed out on her, but ended up buying Moby from Gordon and Janet in Okeechobee. We've moved from the east coast of Florida to the west coast of Florida and we're settling in for the long haul. We were living aboard Moby for the last three years in St. Petersburg, waiting for our condo to sell in Vero Beach—-well, that didn't happen, but we moved ashore anyway. Moby is now at the Gulfport Municiple Marina, we're members of the Boca Ciega Yacht Club, and we're now living in Gulfport, Florida."

The McCullough's: Lived aboard in Ft. Lauderdale and liked to cruise in the Bahamas.

Peggy Hall: Used Moby as a patrol boat as she acted as a park ranger in the Bahamas. Her story was written up in Power and Motoryacht magazine in January of 1986 pdficon.gif.

My tug was built in 1984 and spent most of its life in salt water. The
blisters were bad so I had the bottom peeled twice, over two days, and
left her to dry out for 10months. We rebuilt her using vinylester and
woven mat, to which after grinding smooth we put on two thicknesses of
fairing mat again using vinylester. There are as many points of view on
the way to cure this condition as there are boat owners. I hired a
professional to do the work and I logged 246 hours on the job myself to
ensure no short cuts were taken. The job was completed in March 1999 and
the bottom is still blister free.
